Once you reach a certain age you will need to start building your credit if you ever want to own a home or car. Unfortunately, in the future it is more than likely that you will have to deal with debt collectors. Dealing with a consumer report or debt can be a long and tedious process. Luckily, you have the ability to dispute your debt under the Fair Credit Reporting Act (FCRA). However, there is a lot of information that is required first for your file to be disputed:
- The reason for your dispute
- Reason for the dispute
- Social Security number
- Date of birth
- Current address
- Any corrections to your personal information
- Account number
- Company name of the disputed item
- Your consumer report file or confirmation number
Once all of these materials are collected and submitted you can begin to dispute your case.
